After taking a much needed 2-week vacation from my day job I’ve returned back to work fresh and ready to go. During my time back I’ve been reading a lot more and been focusing on Gesture Drawing.
It has been extremely painful starting back at the beginning but it also has been very helpful. I didn’t realize how important reading was. There’s a lot of things that a book can teach you better than YouTube. With the new found information I started to apply it spiritually, mentally, and through my art.
Going back to basics has been very humbling and very, very painful. Going from working with details to the painful basics of simple lines and curves; doing drawings that are more expressive than they are detailed… is all a painful yet somewhat enjoyable experience. This is very new to me and very difficult, but like they say…
No pain, No gain.
Sometimes I wish I could go back and learn how to draw the right way at an earlier age, but time is only a one way street. All I can do now is learn from my mistakes, bite my bullets and do what I have to do to make my work more enjoyable and expressive.
Man, little did I know how powerful lines, just lines, were at showing actions. I know now.
