How many times have you sat down to do something and you told yourself you were going to do it and had this anxious feeling… Like you were afraid to fail whatever you’re about to attempt it…
I know they say that many people before they go on a stage or before musicians are about to perform that they get nervous… I noticed that this happens a lot when I’m about to draw.
One thing happened tonight that made me realize something that I would like to further investigate…
I was in a conversation with my girlfriend while sketching and I noticed that I was a little bit more confident about my sketching because my mind wasn’t on it. Normally when I’m extremely focused on my work I tend to get nervous and anxious really wanting it to turn out good… But I’ve also noticed that my best work was done with background noise or music or simply having a conversation with someone.
So maybe, as a person who suffers from anxiety, not focusing so hard on the task but enjoying it may help ease artistic anxiety.
